'Danger road' to be added to gritting routes

A road that has been the scene of several crashes is to be added to the route for road gritters following pressure from a local councillor.

Conservative Stuart Walker, who represents Little Stour and Adisham ward and lives in Adisham, contacted Kent County Council after an accident in January that left a car upside down after apparently skidding on ice.

Motorists shared warnings about the conditions on social media, together with concern that the route had not been gritted.

Cllr Walker said: “The road is a busy local route and is used by school buses as well as families and commuters.

“Unfortunately there have been several accidents there recently and in freezing conditions it can be particularly dangerous.

“There are signs warning of ice on the road but I am glad to say that I have been promised it will be added to the gritting routes for winter 2018/19 so we should see fewer issues in future.”

The road runs between Bekesbourne and Adisham. Currently only the B2046, which runs from the A2 to Aylesham and Wingham, is gritted.
